If you are planning a Costa Brava holiday the weather is always an important element to consider when planning when to go.
The weather in the Costa Brava is typically Mediterranean with a hot, dry summer and mild and wet winter.
If you want to experience the very best weather that the Costa Brava has to offer and if you don’t mind the tourist crowds, book your holiday during late summer. In July and August, the Costa Brava is extremely sunny with very little humidity. Clear blue skies and a consistent light breeze make July and August the most popular for Costa Brava holidays. Temperatures are typically around 25c to 30c during the day and don’t fall much below 20c at night.
Though July and August are the most popular for tourists in the Costa Brava, May and June are also extremely beautiful with reliable sunshine and more comfortable temperatures
If you prefer to enjoy a holiday with less heat, then book your trip during these months. If you take a holiday in the Costa Brava during these months, you’ll be able to experience the popular tourist attractions and fishing villages before the madding crowds arrive.
October through March is still pleasant with temperatures in the 12c to 16c range but rain is more likely. The Costa Brava’s proximity to the warm Mediterranean protects it from the harsh weather that most of Northern European countries suffer from in the winter months.
If you REALLY want to stay away from the crowds, and if you don’t mind cooler weather and the occasional rain shower, plan to go during the winter months. Costa Brava’s winter weather is still pleasant, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to pack the sweater and umbrella! Make sure to bring along your camera, because the Costa Brava countryside is absolutely breathtaking during the winter!
So there you have it! If you want to experience Costa Brava’s most popular weather, plan your holiday in July or August. If you’d like to get in before the crowds, plan your holiday in May or June. If you hate the heat and don’t mind the occasional rain shower, plan a winter holiday.
One point to remember is that if you are planning on renting a Costa Brava villa or apartment during the winter months make sure that is has adequate heating as winter nights can be very cold.
