The Costa Brava means “Wild Coast”, and for good reason!
This territory extends along Spain’s North Mediterranean coastline for just over 150 kilometers, and offers every sort of activity that you would expect from a Mediterranean holiday. The region begins just north of Blanes town, and extends all the way to the French village of Portbou.
The Costa Brava is famous for it’s stunning natural beauty. Unspoiled fishing villages and sheltered rocky coves lie along seemingly endless while sandy beaches which extend as far as the eye can see. Ancient castles and majestic mountains that run parallel to the beach makes this one of the hottest tourist destinations in Spain.
If you are are looking for a family holiday, check out Costa Brava’s “Waterworld”, the largest water park in Europe, as well as the nearby Marine World, which boasts over 300 animals. If you are looking for a quiet get-away for yourself and your spouse, check out the fishing village of Tossa de Mar, the fashionable city of Gerona, as well as the picturesque countryside dotted with medieval castles which date back to the 15th century.
Though the Costa Brava is now a dynamic tourist destination, it has still retained its strong historical and cultural heritage, which emanates from nearly every aspect of the region.
Though the Costa Brava is a popular holiday destination year-around, the months of May through October are the most popular for tourists. If you are planning to rent a room in a hotel between July and August, or a Costa Brava villa rental, you better be sure to book in advance as most hotels and resorts will be filled to capacity!
No matter what you are looking for, or what you are looking to experience, the Costa Brava is sure to offer it. Pull out your schedule and make your reservation, because you’re about to experience the Mediterranean holiday of a lifetime!
